30 Day Challenge: Day 6 - Book that makes you Sad
Okay, I absolutely detest that new cover. It looks like a bad chick-lit book where the heroine's lost love comes back into her life and the emotional drama piles up until the climax hits with a big storm that cements their love via shared trauma.
Which this book is not. Its a Gothic mystery that got me so emotionally invested in the characters that the ending left me extremely depressed. I ended up not reading anything for months after this one because I was still trying to recover from the emotional gut-punch at the end. Now, this was back in 2007 when I read it. So, I don't know if it would hit me as hard but I still can't look at this book without getting sad.
